Site for New Books
Is anyone aware of a reliable site for finding eBooks? I know there is an eBook thread here, but it is a mess, many of the links don't work, and there are very few new books.
Sites like AvaxHome that provide links to file sharing sites are largely useless now, a vast majority of links have had the files taken down. I used PDFCHM for a long time, but now when I log in I get a message saying the service has been discontinued(doesn't seem to be the truth). It was the best resouce I've ever used for IT-related eBooks, but I can't figure out a way to regain access to it. Newsgroups are very hit and miss. Any ideas where else to search? |
Can get many books from Torrent. Not many free/open sites left, but IsoHunt is OK for searching.

Of course it will depend upon the type of book one is looking for, but I've found a fair few useful ones at:
Code:
hxxp://www.wowebook.org/ |
usually i go to
Code:
hxxp://www.ebookee.org/ |
I use Amazon to choose the books, and google to find them. This will almost always be a winning formula. I buy the book (used of course) if after reading some/all of the e-book, I find it worth it.

Awaxhome is also good, same method as goggles99 mentioned, simply copy name of the book and paste into google and it will show all links where you can find it.

ebooks
www.flazx.us it's like PDFCHM.
|
Some book catalogs can be found on http://freebookspot.es

The best resource i know of is usenet, but you usually need to pay for access to get good speed and high retention.
Ofcourse, google can also be a good source using the right keywords: -inurl:htm -inurl:html intitle:"index of" +("/ebooks"|"/book") +(chm|pdf|zip) +"NAME OF THE BOOK" |
good ebook site
one can find lot many books here... b-ok.org
|
Of course the best one is http://gen.lib.rus.ec/
|
I have found some very useful research papers on the libgen site which I was unable to find anywhere else. I was referred their long ago but indeed highly recommended especially for scientific research and theoretical computer science - cryptography, programming languages, etc.

There is a site, but it is in the Persian language.
Just search the name of the book, the ISBN, the article link, or the DOI. Finally, log in with a one-time password. https://ketab.io |
https://ebooks-it.org
direct downloads |
|
I like http://bookfi.net/
it's a bit slow nowadays, but it has some gems I couldn't find elsewhere. |
