Notice the last code.., How does it accomplish everything that all the other codes do alone?

Now, codes work like this:

zz yyyyyy xxxx

z= rule byte (if 30 then xxxx is a 1 byte value, If 80 then a 2byte value) There are other rules also.

y= the address

x= the value

np there a caetla doc to u may want try find to(do not have any more :( ) if u use caetla as some codes are not the same...

Yep caetla codes are not the same. Pity becuase most of the codes published are gameshark.

I have the circuit diagram for the caetla chips. These can be turned into gameshark cartidges.

Also I have several roms too. (some really obscure) and some just plain cheap japanese ripp-offs.

I used to do quite a bit of Playstation programming and Caetla is the way to go for this. Unfortunately the card to hook the caetla to the PC is available in ISA only. I have the card, but alas my pc is PCI only.

Does anybody know of a PCI version of this card ??

FAIK there is not but u can get a AR/GS that dos nto use the card(Comms kit) but just a COM/LPT(AR/GS Pro i think = LPT, MC Type AR/GS = COM i think)... and u can build a LPT setup to for old AR/GS but do nto recall name off it :( or u can build a serial cable for dev use too ;)

Hmm Problem is the caetla does not use lpt or com..... :(

I guess one way is to re-write the caetla rom to handle a custom protocol ....

I understood the reason this had not been done was there were actually different voltages and current drains in the cartridge to the PC and that is what the CommsLink card does.

My commslink card does not have much electronics on it at all ... and it does get a bit warm when I use it (which shows there is an energy conversion somewhere)

ColdCoder 04-22-2004 20:17

true but was not there a caetla for AR/GS Pro? or did it only work some :(

redbull 04-22-2004 20:41

I never found one .... I looked very hard .... I am going to see if I can find it ... I do have the GS-Pro as well as the cartridge system .....
