softice from DriverStudio v3.1 win 2k problem

hello,

i've installed softice from this release but whenever i start my computer i get a message:

"Fail to start at least one service or driver, use the event viewer to see the event log and get more details"

event viewer says it fail to load:
crcdisk

but i dont have any crcdisk in my services list, does anyone know what could be causing this ?

crcdisk.sys is as I've read "Disk Block Verification Filter Driver", so it's not a service but a driver. Some service failed to start because it can't load it. I don't know which service can it be, but I think it should be said in logs.

Maybe you should check if you have crcdisk.sys somewhere in windows directory. If not you can always try to copy it there. It can be found for example at hxxp://www.dynamiclink.nl/frames/sysindex.htm

still

hello,

i have this file in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers

this problem only happens after i instal softice, if i uinstall everything works normal, so i believe it must be some problem with softice service, but in the logs it doesnt show any service name, so i dont know which one is failing to load it.

To Skyper
Which SP on your 2k ?
Which type of SICE Startup your setup? -> 'Boot' ?
It's looks like crcdisk not doing useful staff -> disable it!
(Set 'Start' parameter to 4 of HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\crsdisk) or remove.

May be it Win2k SP4

If possible use "System" start method it work bit more stable

hmm

currently softice is set to load "Manual" but i've tried all the other ways and i get the same message, im using Win2k3 no service pack.

pigman, is it ok if i disable it ? i mean, no problem with other things on the system?
