try using NTFDSdos to recover files. sometimes this really helps
I thnk you have enabled compression on Ur NTFS.

Additionally U can try disk commander from winternals.- supports recovery from ntfs partitions also.

one thing is U avoid writing to that partition as far as possible since it may weaken ur chances of recovering.
