A new erra of M$ fsckism....
Well, here's the deal. I'm not sure but I think it's fair to say there have been at least a few different "pirate" versions of the XP Pro w/ built in SP1 CD in circulation since SP1's actual realease. Therefore to better understand what I've done here you all should know that it was done with the "pirate" version of the CD which is connected to the following well-known pirate VLK key:
XK39D-3PDMC-JMMDK-X8T8M-77YVM Now that we've got that titbit squared away, what I did basically was use that disc to create a brand new XP installation by doing a slipstream of XP Service Pack 2 Build 2162 onto the final ISO. We should note that this particular VLK circulation I'm using had a PID in XXXXX-642-XXXXXXX-23XXX <- that range. Bottom Line: The new installation go's through perfectly with keys generated by the 4in1. It not only accepts keys in the 640-500/640-600 range but also keys in the 642-470/642-800 range. The big SLAP in the face-piece: NO WINDOWS UPDATE . Forget windows update with any artificially generated key "Windows could not verify the product key". Yes it sucks elephantitis infected ballzaks I know, but all we can do at this point is hope. Either way you slice this little joint, its a BAD BAD move by M$... Can anyone guess why preventing windows updates would be bad? OF COURSE EVEN A NEW-BORN BABY FREAK could, but heaven forbid that the actual MAKERS of the damn OS can understand it. Nooo noo that would be way too much to ask.

Perhaps if you pay a little closer attention, you will notice comments about "posting twice" has nothing to do with posting "twice" or more within one Thread. It has to do with posting two or more times in a row or within a vew minutes when the second posts contents can be simply added to the other one by using the Edit button. The comments about this process are not applied to posting again after some substantial time has passed and others have posted additional comments or questions. Regards,

Forgive me but there seems to be some misinformation here :
Quote: "Hey what if one has a key like: XXXXX-OEM-0044283-XXXXX ? Is it possible to generate with what we have? I mean for instance, one has a 100% legit Copy of Windows XP Pro on the original CD even for good measure . The user installs this copy once, twice, OOOPS! Third time's a charm meaning Windows demands activation because as we've discussed, either things have changed "inside" the PC, or the copy has been installed "too many times during a predefined period of M$ time". Now what. Does there exist the possiblity to actually activate the damn thing with a key created by the 4in1 keygen (a key that falls completely out of the banned range)? ---------------------------- If You have a legit copy you can Install it any number of times since no one can predict when , how and which App can crash the system or what hardware fails. Every time You Install you have 30 day grace period for activating it. You can simply keep installing every 30 days without ever activating it. Win updates are mostly Patches for Internet Explorers new found vulnerabilities . One can live without them - for 30 days ! You can activate 3 times on the Internet within 120 days after which the counter goes zero . If you install more than 3 times you have to call MS on Phone to get the activation code . Hassle but they will give You code to activate it . One Guy installed 27 times within a week and gave them no reason what so ever . He got the activation code on the phone , informing the operator that the conversation was being recorded !! I too have a OEM legit copy . Some info from MS help and support site : If you have a Retail Copy of OS you can Activate it but need not Register it . You can sell your copy of OS and remove it from your system. You can not sell your OEM copy of OS ! It is locked to your computer !! You also have to Register it else it does not get Activated . I find if I do not click on the Register Button the Activate Button stays ' grayed ' out . Locked to my computer ? I am allowed to replace and change every component , motherboard , Hard drives , cards , Ram , PSU , case , name and designation of computer , number of users . It isn't locked to any thing in the system . What if I move few blocks and my IP changes ? What if move to different country ? Surely if you install on a laptop and it crashes in Timbuktu , you need to reinstall and get it activated . Unanswered questions but I think it is locked to my registration to me which can not change . |

About activation of Windows XP Retail.
Windows XP Store Retail version has been installed on a single computer at a given time, but it has been traveling from one configuration into another a lot. Each time it has been activated, first time over net, next ones over phone. After about tenth activation over phone with explanation of reasons for testings, I was doing activatons over net without any questions from microsoft. |
