Macromedia projector

Well it depends if it has been unpacked correctly. It happened to me, a while ago, that i needed to unpack a flash projector compressed with aspack. I tried it with aspackdie and running the projector it would show a blank page. I tried with another unpacker(don't remember the name but it is the one that renames all section names to RIF1 RIF2 and so on) and it worked perfectly.

That apparent unpacking error is caused due to the overlay stripping some unpackers do. Flash file is created by putting together the Stub(flash player) and the flash file at the end of the file. If the unpackers strips that part the player can't obviously do the job because it does not find the *swf file.

I don't know if in director is the same mechanism but i can suppose to because they are bot produced by the same company.

I am checking the documents they have got. I would like to get a manual on how the addresses of the .swf files or that of the Xtras path are set in that added block of data behind last section of the .exe target. Till now nothing found, but some tools that can extract the .swf files from the projector.

When I was learning how the resources are set in the .rsrc section (for unpacking Trymedia protection) I got some very good documents in internet describing how the data are set inside it. So, I would like to know if it is possible finding some similar ones for Projector.

Of course, it should be similar to that of Flash, being a same owner product.

The packer I am handling is that of Trymedia. But seems to be similar concerning to projector issue to the one you are talking about.

When rebuilding a target from Trymedia protection, I have found the same issue you are describing:
- A flash window totally blank.

I solved that executing directly the .swf file, then it worked fine.
