Thanking

I don't understand, what's the difference between a button written with "Like" and "Thanks" If the aim is still the same, similarly with "Reputation + 1" and "Add" Reputation, Why change the text?. I understand that what is being considered and decided by administrators is to improve the Forum in all its threads, however I just don't see the need to change texts of buttons each time a member complains.
